From the ground up riding
Back In The Saddle
There’s something magical about being on horseback. You and the horse working together to explore what’s around the next bend in the river…
With over 25 miles of horse trails, we can ride along the banks of the Skagit River or choose any path that interests you. Before the ride you will have a chance to meet your horse and watch them getting tacked up for the ride. You can spend a few minutes in the saddle here on the ranch before we head down the trail.
$60 / Hour
We offer One-on-one riding lessons that last about 75 minutes on average. Students will learn from the ground up about equine safety and proper riding equitation.
If you own a horse or are thinking of owning one soon, we can help you and your equine companion get started on the right hoof.
At Top West we believe in natural horsemanship and just as our rider program starts from the ground up, so does our horse/ human training. We are available to help you find the necessary tools to manage your crew. Often, problematic behavior in horses can be corrected with minor adjustments from the rider. Establishing leadership and a consistent language are fundamental in successful horsemanship. Let us teach you the horse dance!
We are a family friendly place where riders of all ages are welcome! We can accommodate groups of kids all looking to ride. Generally we like to have the kids take turns so we can give them our undivided attention and supervision.
Kids will rotate time in the saddle until everyone has had at least 30 minutes of riding time which can be anything from being led or riding on their own in a controlled arena, depending on previous riding experience and comfort levels.
Kids are encouraged to brush the horses and feed them treats or just explore the ranch and have a great time! 3

2 Hour Trail Ride
Option to ‘learn how to horse’, grab a quick refresh course, or whatever you need to feel comfortable on the trail.
Then we ride.
Over the river and through the woods to grandmas.. JK, to the beach!
Check out the Skagit river scene. . Loop around and come back. As much or as little as you, the rider are comfortable with.

Planning a party, event, or photoshoot and need some horses at your location?
Top West will bring the ranch to you! We have supplied horses and ponies for kids birthday parties, Unicorn parties, Baraat Ceremonies (Indian weddings), and photo/video shoots.
We take care of everything from loading to horses, transport, saddling them up, supervising the activities, and providing instruction to anyone wanting to ride or sit in the saddle.
Our going rate is $75/Hr (@4+ hours) and generally we charge a $100 fee to cover the fuel, trailer, and loading/unloading process.
Ask for a specific quote based on your location and the amount of time you would like to have the horses spend with you.

Horses aren’t just for riding, they also make great companions. We offer many experiences and ways to Connect!
Come to Top West Ranch. Hang out, learn about horses, feed some animals, enjoy the quiet or make noise of your own. Bring lunch and make a picnic or order take out from one of the many local restaurants. $15 per day (10am to Sunset)
Every First Thursday of the Month this is free! We may even have live music if anyone has interest in playing to an audience. We also welcome volunteers in our many build and improvement projects. These volunteers are welcome to visit us free of charge as well!
We love to host anything from jam sessions around the fire to organized charity events and shows.
The First Thursday of every month we hold an open house and open mic!

DJ’s welcome but volume will be kept at respectable residential levels after 10pm.
Besides our many riding and training programs, we offer internships and volunteer opportunities. The variety of educational opportunities are not limited to equine related topics and inquiries will be discussed on a case by case basis to determine eligibility.
We have plans for several building and improvement projects. Some of these are simple things and others are long term plans. We welcome volunteers and collaborations. If you love horses and clean country air, come join us for one of our many projects. Volunteers are rewarded with special privileges at Top West Ranch.

Suffering from isolation or loneliness?
Horse Therapy is a good way to connect to another being. Horses have a natural calming effect and they make good listeners. It’s easy to feel at ease and let go of your anxiety when you are riding or just hanging out with horses. Horses make exceptional therapy animals in our unprofessional opinion!
Goals are riding-skill-based, but individuals and parents often report many therapeutic benefits of participation. These benefits include improvements in physical strength, balance, coordination, mobility, self-confidence, self-control, peer interaction, and social skills.
Our goal is to a certified therapeutic riding instructor under the PATH INTERNATIONAL certification program.
Take a refreshing plunge on those warm summer days! Our little beach is walking (or riding) distance from Top West Ranch. We enjoy many days there splashing about or having a picnic. Thinking of Floating the Skagit River? We have extra tubes and can pick you up downstream!
Never heard of “Horse Yoga”?
Unlike Goat Yoga, the animals don’t pose on your back, but you can still interact with your equine yoga partner!
If you love yoga and horses, join us for some Horse Yoga on the 1st Thursday of each month as we host an “Open Ranch” including many activities and music.

Looking for a place to hold a wedding, a retreat, or celebration? We can offer you an idyllic riverside setting to hold your event.
Top West Ranch makes an ideal setting for your wedding or ceremony.
We have spacious outdoor areas perfect for staging your vows and celebration. Covered areas are available depending on the size of your gathering, but a rental tent could be erected to accommodate a larger gathering.
Anyone that’s ever been to a Baraat Ceremony (Indian wedding) is sure to remark at the grooms entrance upon a white horse.
We have one Paso Fino that is sure to brighten up your groom on the special day!
Top West is always growing, with the goal of hosting retreats. Available to collaborate on projects! We would love to hear from you.
