Riders Guide

Welcome Riders!

This guide is designed by Top West Ranch to be used as a reference tool for how we handle our horses and all safety protocols. It is also our liability contract that basically says you recognize that horses are dangerous, accidents happen, and the farm, faculty, and family of Top West Ranch are not liable.  We maintain a specific program to ensure everyone’s safety.
It is the rider’s responsibility to learn these fundamentals of horse safety and proper handling.
As a Top West Rider, you agree to share the responsibility of providing exceptional care for animals and you agree to represent the image of the group by maintaining this standard in all personal, professional, and social engagements. We work collaboratively to create, connect, compete, and celebrate our love for the horse.
For this operation to be successful, Top West Ranch riders must understand and agree to practice safety protocols and “ground rules”.
Ground rules are the foundation blocks of our program and critical in establishing a successful riding program.

  • We speak to each other, and ourselves with kindness.
  • Leave things better than we found them and are mindful of our trash.
  • We tell the truth and do what is right, every time.
  • Be brave but never take chances.
  • Study hard and learn all you can.
  • Be kind to animals and take care of them.
  • Must have a helmet, boots, and a charged phone to ride off property. No exceptions.
  • HORSES ARE A PRIVILEGE, their care comes first, during, and at the end of every ride.
